Recently got an opportunity to visit Rishikesh and banaras back to back . Both these places you may find a perfect balance between ancient and modern India.
Have been fortunate enough to get an opportunity to take holy deep in the ganges.
Both the cities had a unique pull owing to it's rich cultural heritage and positive vibes
Banaras/Kashi/Varanasi
Banaras one of the oldest livelihood cities in the world can be explored through its numerous narrow lanes, where you’ll experience crowd and queue, temples everywhere, old traditional buildings, unique wall paintings and roadside eateries... Especially the route to dashashwamedh ghat, annapurna temple, manikarnika ghat etc.is amazing. Also don't miss the wall paintings.. It's beautifully decorated and its bright colours will constantly attract your attention..
The trip to Varanasi is incomplete if you do not attend the Ganga aarti performed by priests at the Ghats which looks immensely beautiful.
काशी-काबा एक है, एकै राम रहीम। मैदा इक पकवान बहु, बैठि कबीरा जीभ।।
Talking about banaras how can one miss it's ethnic eateries. Aloo chana kachori, puri sabji, dahi jalebi, Malaiyyo and pani puri.
There are many places where you may taste these, however Day may start with hot cup of tea at Laxmi tea stall with bum muska, followed by Puri sabji and chaat at Kashi chaat bhandar or Raam chaat bhandar.
Kashi Vishwanath Corridor
The appearance of the Kashi Vishwanath Dham temple has significantly changed because of the newly built Kashi Vishwanath Corridor. Kashi Vishwanath Dham Corridor is built in 50 thousand square meters and ensures the movement of pilgrims and devotees between the Ghats and the temple. Earlier, they had to pass through crowded streets to reach the temple
